The Ferret Pit

The Ferret Pit

Yet another pointless, needless weblog that's gonna be used to get pointless and needless attention. Yay.

Now Playing: Nothing but the tic-tic-tac of my keyboard and the humming of the office equipment

*deep breath*

I'VE GOT A NEW JOB!!!

*dances about like a goofball*

Yes, friends, I, Kristin Renee Taylor, have finally gotten a job that actually pays more than minimum wage. Is this the end of my self-imposed "loser" status? You bet your sweet ass, Jimmy!

The world is limitless and full of possibilities.

I have money.

Money leads to debt cancellation.

Debt Cancellation leads to moving out.

Moving Out leads to More Room.

More Room leads to the ULTIMATE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM FROM BEYOND THE FARTHEST REACHES OF THE GALAXIES!!! (aka Super Fun)

Super Fun leads to the Dark Side. And we ALL know how much I love the Dark Side.

Bling-Bling, ya'll. Bling-freaking-Bling.

On another and somehow entirely unrelated note, yesterday I finished Dean Koontz's The Taking, making it one of the few Koontz books I've read in one day.

God knows He chose well when He gave Mr. Koontz the ability to write. I can only aspire to one day reach 1/10 of Mr. Koontz's ability. *shivers deliciously*

Oh, and something to make the three of you that read this happier:

I actually am writing three new Rejected Episodes for Sailor Moon.

Yeah, I'm pretty shocked myself, actually. Expect at least the first one by the end of the week.

The New and Improved K-chan... OUT!

Now Playing: A commercial. Blasted commercials.

Okay, quick update before I go do... other things...

- I have been to the Con and it was good. Pictures forthcoming as soon as I get my computer back up and running.

- I have gotten a virus and, as usual whenever I get one, I reformatted my computer. In the process I lost all said Con pictures, my mp3 collection, and my mother's movies from her Disney vacation. Let this be a lesson: Never work on a computer at five in the morning.

- I found a backup of my mp3s and the Con pictures. Ma's vacation is totally hosed. She isn't too happy about that.

- I have played Sniper Elite, Shadow of the Colossus, Shining Force Neo and... really... that's about it for the moment. I have been having a rather tiring week so I haven't played as much as I wanted to... But more info on these three are forthcoming.

That's it, for now. K-chan out!

Back from the Con. Sorting through pictures. So sleepy.

Back soon.

Now Playing: War Dogs – Juno Reactor

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is today, too!

Dangit! Too many games! Not enough time!

Oh, and some other games that I have totally forgotten about this week:

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Second Edition for the PS2 (Ooo.. big freakin' whoop)

Fable: "The Way the Game Was Supposed to Be," er,... I'm sorry. I meant Fable: The Lost Chapters.

Shadow of the Colossus (*drools slightly*). More on this one later.

And... The Bible Game.

Yes. The Bible Game.

Who's bright idea was it to create a game that was nothing more than a trivia game with a Religious slant?

I mean, I'm not calling it a bad game (Oh, it is) or saying that it won't sell well (Oh, trust me, it won't), but, honestly? I think the mod of Hexxen called Exodus will be better than this crap. And that's being generous.

My head hurts just thinking about it...

Well, this weekend I have Devil Kings by Capcom. After playing the first stage, you may realize something...

You're really playing a revamped Dynasty Warriors.

No, bear with me. This game is Dynasty Warriors, with a few cosmetic changes. Let me elaborate:

After an opening sequence that completely leaves DW in the dust as far as extreme silliness goes, you've got your expected menu choices. Campaign, Free Mode, Vs, Options, and some other thing I didn't look at that was probably Extras. Just like DW.

When you choose Campaign, instead of the massive hordes of generals to choose from with names you can't pronounce, you've got six... with completely ludicrous names. Like, Azure Dragon, or Devil King or Venus. Yeah... they got real creative here. I went with Azure Dragon as he seemed to be the most sane of all the people... blue samurai outfit, eyepatch and all.

You then get to choose what weapons (if any) or items (if any) you'd like to take with you. There's a map. It rotates. Just like DW.

Gameplay is, essentially just like DW's. You hack, you slash, you feel like a bad ass while doing it. There's some thing with "priming" opponents and, instead of Musou, you gain Rage in some way that's not entirely clear, but it all amounts to the same thing: Lots of enemies dead in your wake.

The maps are about a quarter of the size of DW's, though. For the big smears of red and blue clashing in DW, Devil Kings gives you about five dots in total, and a square to represent the enemy general (I fought a 12 year old named Puff. How wrong is that?)

I didn't play this game probably as much as I should have, (I really lost interest after 12 year old Puff whupped my tail), but after the time I did have, I have to ask Capcom...

Did they intentionally make a parody of Dynasty Warriors? Because I can't believe they were actually serious about Devil Kings...

*plays Ninja Gaiden Black*

Oh, one more thing.

I finished Odd Thomas yesterday.

I cried.

That book was such a traditional break from Koontz's stuff. I'm only sorry I didn't read it when it came out.

But, now I need something else to read. The Grandmother has given me my quarterly supply of new books. I've already read How to Marry a Millionare Vampire (one day to read), and the three Rachel Caine weather books (two days). This leaves me with the three Charlaine Harris Southern Vampire novels and the second Green Rider book from Kristen Britain book. And of course all the old standbys in my other bookcase that consist of books she's given me that I have yet to touch.

I suppose I should finally finish Jim Butcher's Death Masks... but I don't wanna! (That book's gonna make me cry, too, I know it. It's so depressing.)

And, of course, there's my annual reading of the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephan Donaldson. I'm a little late this year.

Or, I could go to the library and check out Kate Elliot's final Crown of Stars book. (Will Liathano and Sanglant ever get together? Will Liath's dream of Hanna killing herself come true? What about Blessing? Hugh? Ivar? The Ashioi? The seven hundred other characters in the series? I MUST KNOW!)

Well, in the end, I think Death Masks is the winner. I'll try to finish it, get horribly depressed over what I think the ending is (Kudos to Mr. Butcher if I'm totally wrong *hopeful grin*) and then go work some more on my Superhero story cast.

K-chan out... again!

Another thing... I'm trying out this Word Blogger thingy, where, apparently, I can use MS Word to type up my blog and publish it from there. It seems pretty nifty, but one minor thing I noticed is the Auto-correct options. Specifically the ellipses (...) would get all screwy. But a little change to the Auto-Text doohickey fixed that right up. Go Go Word Blogger!

Now Playing:  You know... I honestly don't know. That's radio for you. I think it's U2, though. Oh, hey...  it IS U2. Where the Streets Have No Name or something. Go me.

Liathano's turning into Darth Vader, just so you  know. Or an evil Leia Skywalker.

Hand chopped off, doing the Stratholme quests to get the Lightsaber, collecting the Deathplate set and the pitch-black Redoubt Cloak. If I had a black hood, the costume would be complete.

I will be the first Jedi in a game that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Star Wars! Go me!

In other news, I found a website with a crapload of Sierra and LucasArts abandonware.

www.agamesroom.com

I have Loom! LOOM! That game was freaking hard and awesome all at once.

"Hi, I'm Bobbin. Are you my mother?"

*gigglesnorts*

Oh, and I have the Dig. Never played it before, but it's supposed to be awesome.

Sniper Elite comes out next week. "What's Sniper Elite?" you ask. It's exactly what you think it is: a game containing nothing but sniping.

Camping out in one spot... not moving for ages... waiting for just the right wind and angle...

I'm excited about this game. I'm convinced it was made JUST for me. When I get it next week, I'll be sure to spew all about its awesomeness here.

Speaking of awesomeness... Go get Indigo Prophecy! Now! Chop chop! *claps hands*

What else...

Oh! I'm going to Illinois' only Con (that I know of) Anime Reactor next weekend. Mario's flying up to go to it with me. (*purr*) And guess who's going to be there:

No, not Eidos. I'd get banned if that happened for punching out whoever's decision it was to cancel Fear Effect. (THAT'S RIGHT, EIDOS! I'M STILL PISSED!)

Wendy and Richard Pini! The people behind Elfquest! Oh freaking Em Gee.

*digs out all of her Elfquest comics to get them signed*

Now Playing: The Final Jeopardy Theme [I think I've got about $11,000 money to bet...]

Games this week:

Socom 3

and, um... Hm.

I can't think of anything else. Most of the stuff seems to be next week.

So, what to talk about today...

...

...

...yeah, I got nothing.

Now Playing: Er... some FFV song... [changes it to Liberi Fatali] Better.

So, now... what were we talking about doing our last meeting? Eh, I don't even remember.

Highlight Reel!!!

I have, since last bothering to update:

-been unable to attend school for money reasons-

-turned 24-

-gotten an aquarium-

-gotten two jobs-

-laughed over the fact that all EBs are now Gamestops (We WON! BWAHAHA!)-

-hit 60 with Liathano-

-hit 44 with Galerunner-

-bought and adored We Love Katamari-

-played and adored Indigo Prophecy-

-bought and sorta liked Dungeon Siege II-

-decided X-Men Legends 2 is just as lackluster as the original-

-received a Gamecube and Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life for my birthday, both of which I've played a grand total of ten hours on since July-

-written one fanfic (Swinging Chickens) and one sorta-kinda fanfic that is really more a history of Lia's life to date-

-finished Kate Elliott's fifth book in the Crown of Stars series-

-and set to work on Koontz's novels, Odd Thomas. I expect to have it done in the week, whereupon I'll probably work some more on my Sailor Moon and/or Parasite Eve fanfiction.

In a little under two weeks now, I'll be attending Anime Reactor with my dear friend (and love interest) Mario. Wendy and Richard Pini will be there. I'm gonna get them to sign stuff and drool and fawn like the little Elfquest fan that I am.

The website, in case you haven't noticed is completely dead. I just don't feel like dealing with Geocities (and their invasive ads) anymore, and haven't bothered with finding replacement web space as of yet.

Hm... I suppose that, other than that, there hasn't really been much going in my life. Life has remained relativly dull and peaceful, save for the stress of having two jobs... a situation that might be rectified in as little as next week... Ooo...

Rejoice! I'm not dead!
